Arts and Sciences (A&S) covers all non-martial aspects of SCA activities.

If you are interested in clothing & costuming, cooking, brewing, calligraphy, illumination, music & dance, heraldry, handcrafts, languages, story-telling & poetry, gardening, woodwork, metalwork, or any other non-martial aspect of medieval life, then you are into the Arts & Sciences.

Members in the Shire of Strathcorbie participate in a range of arts and sciences individually and as a group, depending on our interests, including metalsmithing and armoring, brewing beer, embroidery, spinning and tablet-weaving, food preserving, calligraphy, painting, and languages including Classical Greek, Latin, and Old Norse. As everyone needs something to wear, garb-making is a common activity. We also make arrows, wooden shields and rattan swords for combat activities.
